YamiPod is a freeware application to efficiently manage your iPod under Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. It can be run directly from your iPod and needs no installation. Take a look at the feature list to find out what it can do and feel free to suggest anything that might be missing.

YamiPod는 iPod에서 자기가 쓰는 컴퓨터로 음악을 가져올 수 있는 어플리케이션이다. 이 어플리케이션은 리눅스(GTK 2.0), MacOSX, Windows 버젼에서 사용할 수 있는데 무료라고하니 '무거운' iTunes를 꺼려하는 분들에겐 상당히 좋은 어플일 것 같다. 거기다 사용해보니 그렇게 어렵지 않고, 김모..(?)님이라는 분에 의해 한글화 버젼도 지원된다고 하니, 상당히 유용할 것 같다. 예전에 어디서 보고 받을려고 했었는데 그만.. 깜빡하고 있었는데 오늘에서야 찾았다..;;

1. Download & install Firefox (You need firefox for the extension to work)

=> Firefox를 다운받아서 설치한다. ( 작업을 하려면 firefox의 확장기능이 필요하다. )

2. Download & install the Video Downloader extension for Firefox (The video downloader extension allows you to save videos from popular websites like Myspace, YouTube, Google, and others.)

=> Firefox의 확장기능 Video Downloader를 다운받아 설치한다. ( 이 확장기능은 Myspace, YouTube, Google, 그리고 여타 유명한 웹사이트로부터 비디오파일을 저장할 수 있게 해준다. )

3. Download & install Media Coder (This encoder converts the video you download into .avi files which allow you to view and store them at your won discretion)

=> Media Coder를 다운받아 설치한다. ( 이 인코더는 원하는 영상을 .avi 파일로 변환시켜주는 기능을 한다. )

4. Find the video you wish to save. Once you are on the page click the Video Downloader Button in the bottom right part of your Firefox Browser window.

=> 저장하고 싶은 영상을 찾는다. Firefox 브라우저의 오른쪽 하단에 위치한 Video Downloader Button을 클릭한다.

5. A window will pop-up. Click the button that says Download Link

=> 어떤 창이 뜨면, Download Link라는 버튼을 클릭한다.

6. When prompted select Save to Disk and then click OK

=> 선택창이 뜨면 Save to Disk를 선택하고 Ok를 클릭한다.

>>>>>Please note that if the file you download does not have the extension .flv, then rename the file and end the name with .flv <<<<<

>>>>>만약에 다운받은 파일이 .flv 라는 확장자가 없다면 파일 이름바꾸기로 .flv를 붙이면 된다.<<<<<

7. Start up MediaCoder

=> MediaCoder를 실행한다.

8. Click on the I agree radio button and on the Skip Setup Wizard button, then close the window that appears after that.

=> I agree 버튼을 누르고 Skip Setup Wizard 버튼을 누른다.

9. Drag and drop the .flv files you downloaded into the large white area in Media Coder

=> 다운받아놓은 .flv 파일들을 Media Coder의 크고 하얀 공간에다가 드래그로 옮겨서 놓는다.

10. Click on the Video tab in the lower left-hand section on the window and select XviD in the Format drop-down menu.

=> MediaCoder의 왼쪽 하단에 보면 작은 메뉴탭들이 있는데, 거기서 Video탭을 찾아 클릭한다. Format 선택 목록에서 XviD를 선택한다. (..라고 되어있지만 나는 Format 선택목록에 XviD가 없어서 다른 포맷으로 선택했다.)

11. Click the large Start buttonon the top toolbar window to start transcoding your video.

=> 상단의 툴바에서 Start 버튼을 누르게 되면 윈도우가 동영상을 변환하기 시작한다.

12. When completed a window will propmt you saying that transcoding is completed, go your file's original location and an .AVI file shoudl be there with the same file name. Now you can play it with Windows Media or your favorite media player.

=> 작업이 완료되면 변환이 완료되었다고 확인창이 뜬다. 원본 파일이 있던 곳에 원본파일과 같은 이름의 .AVI로 변환된 파일이 있을 것이다. 이제 즐겁게 감상~

이전에 유튜브를 게시판에다 링크해뒀는데.. 글쓴이가 영상을 지운건지.. 어떻게 된건지 영상이 없다고 뜨더라. 다른 방법으로 .flv를 받아 놓는 방법도 어딘가 소개하고 있던데.. 아무튼 그 이후부터 보관하고 싶었던 뮤직비디오나 일종에 프리뷰같은 것은 꼭 다운받아 놓으려고 하는 편이다. 첨에 티스토리 쓰게되면..  이왕이면 한국쪽에서 서비스하는게 더 버퍼링이 빠르지 않을까해서 다음동영상으로 변환해서 올려야겠다고 생각했었는데.. 근래보니까 다음동영상도 버퍼링이 너무 안좋아서 보류시켜뒀다. 한국내에서도 그런지 잘 모르겠지만 오히려 가까운 한국보다 유튜브나 구글비디오가 훨씬 버퍼링이 빠른 것 같다.

각 분야별로 유용한 프리웨어들을 뽑아 놓은 사이트다. 분야별로 상당히 눈에 익은, 그리고 유용한 프리웨어들이 눈에 뛴다. 평소에도 자주 쓰는 Firefox라든지 Opera부터 시작해서, FTP에는 FileZilla도 언뜻 보인다. 왠만한 쉐어웨어랑 비교해서도 전혀 뒤지지 않는 기능의 프리웨어들이 상당히 많은 것 같다. 한번 주욱 살펴보면 좋은 프로그램을 찾아낼 수 있을지도 모르니.. 한번 눈여겨 보는 것도 괜찮을 것 같다.

모질라 불여우의 단축키 모음 시트라고 한다. 이제껏 나도 불여우를 쓰면서 기본적인 단축키 외에, 북마크(Ctrl+B)나 탭변환(Ctrl+Tab)등과 같은 자잘한 것 몇 개밖에 안써본 것 같다. 아니, 몰랐다고 해야하나? 거기다 마우스 제스쳐까지 확장기능으로 추가해서 쓰다보니 단축키의 활용도가 많이 줄은 것 같다. 전부 다 알 필요는 없지만, 몇가지 손에 익을 정도로 자주 쓰는 메뉴의 단축키만 알고 있어도 상당히 편하게 웹서핑을 즐길 수 있을 것 같다.

10 Useful Firefox Extensions That Don’t Get Glamorised

1. Colorful Tabs - May sound really boring, but this extension makes it a hell of a lot easier to distinguish between multiple tabs
2. Google Reader Notifier - will popup “unread” Google Reader items from the statusbar, so you can keep on top of your feeds before you end up with more unread items than are manageable in one session
3. FaviconizeTab - This extension adds a new “FaviconizeTab” option to the context menu of the tab. When it is clicked, The width of the tab becomes small up to the size of favicon. Great if you keep a lot of tabs open like me
4. WebmailCompose Fantastic extension that opens your chosen webmail compose window if any email addresses are clicked on
5. Add Bookmark Here - Allows you to add bookmarks to any folder in the bookmarks menu like in Opera. Makes adding bookmarks to Firefox so much easier
6. Optimoz Tweaks - If you a heavy user of sidebars this great extension makes it easier to open and close them. Use this link rather than the one on Firefix Addons, as this version is compatible with FF 2.0
7. Google Browser Sync - The only bookmarks sync tool I’ve found that works seamlessly between PCs. Much better than Foxmarks in my view. If you’re outside of the US just use a proxy site to get the plugin
8. ColorZilla - With ColorZilla you can get a colour reading from any point in your browser, quickly adjust this color and paste it into another program. It’s great for when you see a colour on another website which you want to use, or for tweaking your own template
9. Autohide - This one isn’t promoted heavily, but if you like browsing full-screen it gives some useful control over what elements Firefox displays
10. VideoDownloader - Download videos from Youtube, Google, Metacafe, iFilm, Dailymotion, Pornotube… and other 60+ video sites!
